Visual Inspection-Punch List Management

Prior to commencement of any static or dynamic testing, all system / sub-system shall be visually inspected to clarify the existing status, all discrepancies, damaged or missing equipment, malfunctions, missing documents, etc., shall be recorded by Contractor as a Punch Item in the Punch List, if the situation was not able to be corrected immediately.

Vessel Box up

To formalize the final closure with the final checks (internal, coating, gasket, preservation, cleanliness, etc…).


Equipment for use in offshore installations may be stored for a long time at the construction yard. To prevent damage to the electrical, mechanical and HVAC equipment during long term storage, a controlled warehouse environment is essential along with a system of preservation activities and checks.

Cold & Hot Alignment

Major Items of Rotating Equipment e.g. Turbines, Compressors, Pumps, will have alignment procedures and applicable tolerances by the Manufacturer, to which Contractor shall adhere.

Pipework-Flush & Hydro-Testing

Pressure testing and flushing provides confidence in fluid power equipment cleanliness and maximize performance.

Cable Testing

Insulation Resistance testing shall be carried out by applying a D.C. voltage from an insulation tester at voltage levels given in specification.Continuity test for core / screen / armour are achieved by using one core for return and deducting this value.


All instruments shall be calibrated by Manufacturer before delivery to the site. To validate this calibration, tests shall be carried out in accordance with Manufacturer's procedure.These tests may be applied in an instrument workshop on site.

Bolt Tightening/Tensioning

Bolt torqueing/tensioning shall be carried out as per approved procedure and conform to Project Specifications.Tightening of bolts shall respect a sequence and shall be properly recorded on the test sheet. Before starting each bolts shall be checked for proper diameter, length, conformance to Project Specifications, and cleanliness.

Instrument Loop & Function Test

The objective of a loop test is to prove that the instrumentation signal is representative of a process variable (or a control) and is matching correctly with the control system ICSS and/or UCPs, PDCS, etc…, according to the functional logics as per process requirements.

N2/He Leak Test

A Tightness Test is performed on a plant circuit, including vessels and equipment, in order to verify that there is no leak, or no leak exceeding the acceptance criteria.Method consists to use a gas which, passing through a leak can then be detected by a specific detector. Helium shall be used as a tracer gas combined with a mass spectrometer adjusted to measure the leak rate. Gas mixture shall be 99% nitrogen and 1% helium (N2/He).

PSV Setting

Relief valves shall be tested on an approved test bench located in the immediate vicinity of the Plant and/or the worksite, in order to not impinge the setting integrity during transportation. All valves shall be tested on air or nitrogen and adjusted to commence to open at the cold test pressure.

Chemical Cleaning

Chemical cleaning is a method to derive surfaces and walls of equipment, pipelines, vessels and heat exchangers of unwanted contaminants.

Functional Test

A Functional Test is the live test applied to a given Basic Function; hence it is a single-discipline activity and applicable for Electrical, Instrument and Telecommunication system.

Hot Oil Flushing

Flushing is a process which is done to clear any contaminants present in the pipe and oil after installation. The sole purpose of this process is to avoid damage caused by contaminants /dirt’s to the end using equipment. The pipes are cleaned by creating a turbulent flow in the system and passing them through filters until the desired cleanliness value is obtained. The cleanliness in the pipe is measured in terms of NAS/ISO/SAE Values.

Ductwork Testing

A duct leakage tester is a diagnostic tool designed to measure the airtightness of forced air heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) ductwork. A duct leakage tester consists of a calibrated fan for measuring an air flow rate and a pressure sensing device to measure the pressure created by the fan flow.
